The ROM is offering an incentive on admissions, the have lowered all the prices, this a great opportunity to be the ‘Cultural’ Grandmother / Grandfather and expose your grandchildren to amazing exhibits. Each week the ROM offers special programs for families at no additional cost. Each program runs from 11am – 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. May 19 – 21, Awesome Animals
Incredible insects, magnificent mammals, and rockin’ reptiles are some of the cool creatures you’ll meet this weekend at the ROM. Awaken your wild side as you learn all about the diversity of animal life. Make your own animal mask inspired by the live animals you’ve met, hear animal tales from around the world, and see how you can protect animal habitats every day.

June 9 – 10, Ancient Rome and Greece
Join us as we explore the ancient empires of Rome and Greece! Learn how these ancient cultures dominated the Mediterranean world and continue to influence our daily lives. See demonstrations and displays of arms and armour, talk to experts, try your hand at Roman archery, make a lucky “bulla”, create your own mosaic masterpiece and learn the game of “knucklebones”.

Dinosaurs Alive at Canada’s Wonderland
Canada’s Wonderland will be transported back in time to periods between 245 million and 65 million years ago in one of the world’s largest animatronic dinosaur parks; Dinosaurs Alive! More than 40 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs set in a seven acre outdoor Jurassic themed environment will make up this first class interactive exhibit. Ontario Science Centre; Solar Observing
On the first Saturday of every month, Learn about our nearest star and try your eye at spotting exotic surface features, including sunspots, spicules, and prominences. This program is offered by members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Weather permitting from 10am – 12pm outside at the main entrance.

Spark! The Heart of Art & Science
NEW! Spark! The Heart of Art & Science; While scientists strive to expand our knowledge of the world, artists seek to evoke reactions to the world around us. Exploration in both science and art is often sparked by inspiration and driven by curiosity and creativity. So where exactly is the division between art and science? Both scientists and artist-created works reflecting the microscopic world of biomedical research are on display in Spark! The Heart of Art & Science. Expect to see artistic elements in images brought forth from scientific research, including a mouse embryo, breast cancer cells, and more. Experience the usually unseen beauty of various cell and molecular processes via 3D animation video installations. Visitors may also rearrange body parts on display in the DIY Body Project, an interactive textile installation inspired by synthetic biology and a “do it yourself” approach to biology and crafting. Explore the pieces in this exhibition and see if you can tell which were created by artists and which by scientists. Are science and art really so different? Time: Daily March 3 to August 12, 2012. Rapunzel at Solar Stage
(Musical Play) Ages 3 – 10. Musical Adaptation by William Martyn & Zenon Skrzypczyk. Music by Martyn Skrzypczyk. In this musical version of the traditional story by the Brothers Grimm, we meet Jacob and Mary who are poor and childless. Their hunger forces them to take vegetables from Gothel’s garden. As punishment, Gothel takes Jacob and Mary’s first born child, Rapunzel, and locks her in a tower. Come and enjoy the music and see whether Rapunzel can be freed and return to her family. It’s a typically challenging day in the life of Charlie Brown, from trying to get his kite to fly to trying to find the nerve to talk to that cute little red-haired girl. Meanwhile, Charlie’s friends – and even his dog, Snoopy – face challenges of their own in their pursuit of that fleeting thing called happiness.
